In 2001 Udo Fon, Matthias Götzelmann, Armin B. Wagner and Johann Neumeister founded the artist group »Bad Beuys«.

»Bad« in this name refers to the German prefix »Bad« for spa towns. The German word »Bad« means simply »bath«.

Despite the play on words with the English meaning of „bad“, in this case the health resort „Joseph Beuys“ is to be understood as a place where artist and citizen become a Gesamtkunstwerk, where art and society belong inseparably together.
